Idaho: A Regional Center Becomes Reality
After years of coalition-building and planning, NLEF is proud to announce that we have officially broken ground on the Nation's first regional law enforcement childcare and early education center. Set to open in Summer 2026, this state-of-the-art facility will serve multiple agencies across the Treasure Valley—delivering on the promise of customized care for the men and women who keep Idaho safe.

This milestone reflects the strength of an extraordinary coalition and the vision of Idaho's law enforcement and elected leadership. The need was first brought forward by the Idaho State Police, whose officers made clear that the lack of affordable, accessible childcare was driving attrition and making it harder to recruit the next generation of public safety professionals. In response, agencies throughout the greater Boise area united to form the Treasure Valley Law Enforcement Coalition, elevating the issue to a regional workforce priority.
With support from across the public and private sectors, NLEF helped turn that vision into a viable project. We worked closely with Congressman Mike Simpson and Governor Brad Little to align the effort with Idaho's broader workforce development strategy. We also leaned on generous private sector partners—including John Otter and the J.R. Simplot Company Foundation, Tommy Ahlquist, Zions Bank, and others—who stepped forward to ensure that Idaho's officers and their families had the resources they deserve.
The Treasure Valley Center will be the first regional, multi-agency childcare solution in the country designed specifically for law enforcement, offering extended hours, an affordable tuition model, and a mission-aligned early education environment. It stands as a national model—and a testament to what's possible when local leadership and national expertise come together to solve real problems.
NLEF is honored to lead this project and to continue serving the officers of Idaho through solutions that are built to last.
