Dallas
The National Law Enforcement Foundation (NLEF) is proud to have been entrusted by former Chief Eddie García, the Dallas Police Department, and the Dallas Police Women's Association to develop and implement a customized childcare center to support the department's recruitment and retention efforts.
Dallas: Continuing the Mission Under New Leadership
With the appointment of Chief Daniel Comeaux, the Dallas Police Department is entering a pivotal new chapter—one marked by both renewed leadership and high expectations. As Dallas prepares to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the need to support and strengthen the city’s police force has never been more urgent. Fortunately, Chief Comeaux has stepped in to champion one of the department’s most innovative and urgently needed workforce tools: customized childcare for law enforcement families.
Originally launched under former Chief Eddie García with the support of the Dallas Police Department and the Dallas Police Women’s Association, this childcare initiative was designed to directly address one of the greatest barriers to recruitment and retention: the lack of affordable, flexible, and high-quality care tailored to the demands of law enforcement families. Chief Comeaux’s early leadership signals a deep commitment to ensuring that officers have the support systems they need to thrive in the profession.
The National Law Enforcement Foundation (NLEF) remains steadfast in its mission to deliver this solution for the officers of Dallas. With continued backing from police leadership and a growing coalition of Dallas’s philanthropic, civic, and elected champions, the project is well-positioned to become a model for law enforcement nationwide.
NLEF is proud to stand with Dallas PD as it sets a national example: when communities invest in the families behind the badge, they build stronger, more resilient public safety agencies—and stronger cities.
